ASAM REBUS NENAS (PINEAPPLE SPICY SOUPS)


Ingredients :-)
1 honey pineapple, cut to small pieces
3 salted fish, cut into 2 pcs each and soak in water for awhile, drained and put aside
3 tumeric leaves, sliced
2 pcs asam gelugor
1 cube ikan bilis "Maggi" (optional)
Sugar and salt to taste
1 tspn tumeric powder
5-6 red chillies*
7 shallots*
3 cloves garlic*
1 handful of anchovies/ ikan bilis, soak for 10 minit and drained*(*blender)
Oil for frying
A bowl of water
Method :-)
With oil in medium heat fry the blendered ingredients and tumeric powder till fragrant.
Add in cut pineapples and mix well.Let it simmer for a while and add in a bowl of water( about 800ml) and add in asam gelugor, let simmer for 5 mins
Add in anchovies/ikan bilis cube, salted fish and sugar, let it simmer another 5 mins lastly add in tumeric leaves and salt to taste

P.S. Today mumsdishes cook ASAM REBUS NENAS but my ingredients is slightly different. Usually I will cook sea cucumber/gamat with traditional style of simple soups dish but this time I wanted to try with asam soup,hmmm...just for a change, suprisingly it taste great! the soup and the sea cucumber compliment each other.

MUMSDISHES PINEAPPLE SPICY SOUP WITH SEA CUCUMBER

Ingredients:
1 honey pineapple, cut to small pieces
2 medium size sea cucumber, cut into smaller pcs and soak in water for awhile, drained and put aside
2 pcs asam gelugor
1 fish cube "knorr"
Sugar and salt to taste
1 tspn tumeric powder
5-6 red chillies*
7 shallots*
3 cloves garlic*
1 handful of anchovies/ ikan bilis, soak for 10 mins
1/2 chicken cube "knorr"
800ml water

Method:

1- Pour 800 ml water into a saucepan let it boil with cut pineapples for 5 mins.
2- Add in all the ingredients and let it simmer for another 10 mins.
3- Lastly add in sugar and salt to taste, served hot with white rice, sambal belachan, fried anchovies or fried salted fish.Enjoy!

P.S. Sorry today I got no chance to take picture, after cooking I was quite tired and rest awhile, thought later on will take some pic, unfortunately, my daughter loves the soup and guessed what happened, I think you know...hmm..so there goes my pics..probably next time I will cook when she is not around..(for picture taking)hehe...
