Firm Tofu Fingers

Actually I was looking for Tofu recipe sort of finger food which I saw in Chinese food show, it was something like this (had tried quite nice but a little bland)anyhow I found this recipes maybe with some variations should taste good)1 slice chicken breast( used fork to scrapped),tofu (2 inchs and mayonaise,mashed well and fried,)


    1lb Firm Tofu 1cup plain white flour* 1t cayenne* 1T Salt* *Only two tablespoons of flour mixture is counted in the nutritional information. This is the average amount that actually sticks to the tofu. You still need to use more flour to keep it from clumping. To cut down on waste, you can freeze the remaining flour mixture and re-use a few times.


 Preheat oven to 400F.

Defrost tofu in the microwave. Get as much water out as possible. Some people squeeze then slice. Some vice versa. I've also heard of putting slice between plates and pressing.

Slice into four cards, then each card into 5 fries/sticks.

Combine dry ingredients in a baggie or plastic storage ware. Gently shake tofu in this until covered.

Bake for about 25min depending on how crispy you want. Turn them over somewhere in the middle.

variations: use bread crumbs or sesame seeds

Tofu Fingers

1 Tofu, extra firm (12 oz. to 14 oz package)
1/2 cup Bread crumbs, dried
1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/8 teaspoon Black pepper, ground
1 Egg, beaten
2 tablespoons Milk
2 tablespoons Soybean oil
Assorted dipping sauces

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 3 to 4 minutes
Cut tofu into twelve, 1x1x3-inch pieces.  Place pieces on paper towel to drain.

Mix bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper in medium bowl.

Beat egg and milk together in small bowl.  Dip tofu in egg mixture.  Place tofu in bread crumb mixture, turning to coat all sides.

Heat oil in large frying pan over medium high heat.  Add tofu, reduce heat and cook 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.  Serve with dipping sauces.

Dipping Sauce Suggestions: Honey Mustard, Sweet & Sour, Barbecue, Sweet Chili, Ketchup and Ranch Dressing.


Fried Tofu Fingers

 Ingredients :

3 pieces of firm tofu- mashed finely
1 cup of shrimp - finely chopped
Half carrot - finely chopped
2 spring onions - finely chopped
a small bunch of cilantro/coriander - finely chopped
1 red chili - finely chopped
2 tbsp of corn flour
1 egg
1/2 tsp of sesame oil
1 tbsp of oyster sauce
2 tbsp of soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste

1) Oil a square baking pan and mixed all the above ingredients really well. Put the mixture into the pan and press it firmly.
2) Steam for 20 min, set aside to cool completely and then chill it in the fridge for a couple of hours before cutting into it.

For frying :

1 egg - beaten
some corn flour for dredging
2 tbsp of sesame seeds
a few pieces of nori sheets - cut into 1" strips

1) Cut the tofu into 1" x 2" pieces. Wrap the nori sheet around the middle of the tofu pieces.
2) Mixed the sesame seeds with corn flour.
3) Dip the tofu pieces into the beaten egg, then coat it with the corn flour and deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
4) Serve with sweet chili sauce

Note : You can replace the carrot with water chestnuts.


well tofu is healthy food and with variations could be very tasty.hmmm, I think had enough of Tofu gaga for a while, let me check wether still have some Tofu left to fry... hehe..
